ReDesign
Q:What is ReDesign?
If your decorating and design attempts have left you dissatisfied or you just can’t decide where to begin, Interior ReDesign, may be the answer.
This a one day, low cost, stress-free transformation, using items that you own and infusing the principles of good design: balance, scale, texture, color and more to create a stunning new look. See our SERVICES page for more information.
Q:Why ReDesign?
You are frustrated with everything you’ve tried or have no ideas on how to get started.
You have moved furniture into every configuration imaginable, but it’s still not right.
After watching design shows on TV or looking through magazines you ask yourself, “Why can’t my room look like that?”
You’re thinking that you need to buy new furniture to update your look, but it’s just not in the budget right now.
You’ve inherited, by marriage or from family, items new to you but you don’t know how they’ll work with what you already have.
You have pieces that you want to use but you’re concerned that a “designer” will tell you to get rid of your treasures and start “fresh.”
Your nest is now “EMPTY” and it’s time to create a more adult space in one or more rooms.
You're recently divorced or widowed and want something new.
You’ve always “dreamed” of having a pulled together look in your home but you think it’s just too expensive.
You don’t feel that you have any design sense or talent and designers charge too much for their services.
You want a new look to WOW your family and friends over the holidays or for any special occasion.
Q:I would like some new items in my house. Can you help me with those items?
Certainly I can. I am trained in interior design and I can assist with most of your design/decor needs. We can go shopping or I can shop for you. I have great sources for furnishings and for window coverings. Just call and I can tell you how I can help you. I love chatting about my passion and sharing my thoughts with potential clients. HOWEVER, I will never try to sell you items unless you request that service.

Home Staging
Q: Will professional home staging help sell my house?
The value of professional home staging depends on many factors:
Is your house priced RIGHT for today's real estate market? Staging cannot overcome a seriously overpriced house. Realistic pricing can be difficult to accept but it is crucial in this market if you seriously want or need to sell. Enlist the services of a Realtor and perhaps purchase a pre-sale appraisal to help with your pricing decisions.
Is your house updated and in a state of good repair? Buyers' today are looking for "move-in ready" houses and today's buyers standards are high. Sometimes those standards are unrealistic but often buyers will keep looking if they can't find what they want. Few buyers want a fixer-upper and even fewer are willing to spend after-purchase money making changes.
Are you willing to "depersonalize" and "neutralize" your home to SELL it? This means removing many of your family photographs, prized collections, special artifacts and other items that make this house YOUR home. The majority of buyers cannot visualize making YOUR house into their home if your presence dominates each room. It can also mean painting room in more neutral colors (not white) and moving furnishings to enhance square footage, functionality and traffic flow. We neutralize but we don't sterilize your house.
Can you accept this? Once that you've decided to LIST your house FOR SALE, it becomes a PRODUCT TO SELL and the goal of professional staging is to make your HOUSE outshine the competition. Your home is now a HOUSE, a commodity and a very valuable one. We can help you remove the emotional attachment that you have to your home and thereby help you get the highest dollar return on your investment, in the shortest period of time.
Q: How long will it take to sell my house after it is staged?
The length of time that a house remains on the market varies for each and every listing. There are simply NO guarantees since each house and each listing is unique. All of the bolded points in the questions above figure into how long a staged home will take to sell. Homes that we have staged have gone under contract on the VERY FIRST DAY after the staging but that is not typical. Homes that we have staged have lingered on the market because the staging was not maintained or the house was priced too high and the sellers ended up chasing the market.
Also, a staging consultation or DIY staging can rarely compete with our professional hands-on full staging services. A few hours or a full-day with our professional services CAN make a BIG difference on the broad appeal of your house to potential buyers.
We cannot offer you any guarantees that your staged home will sell, but we can guarantee that IT WILL be more appealing to buyers when we have completed the job.
Q: Do I have to buy or rent new furniture for staging?
Absolutely NOT! Part of our professional skill is to always try to work with what the sellers have available. However, shabby, worn or outdated items are not visually appealing and it is best to dress those items up, sell them or place them in storage. We also have furnishings, artwork and accessories available for rent or for purchase. Our most successful clients have combined some of their items with some of ours to help with budget and visual appeal.
Q: Is painting always necessary for staging?
Not always, but I have never seen a house that didn't benefit from a fresh coat of neutral paint before it was marketed. Also, white or builder's beige paint is usually NOT your best choice for a staging sale color.
Yes, neutral is best BUT there are many, many neutral colors and we can help you with that decision.
Call us BEFORE you decide to paint.
Q: What typically needs to be done to prepare a house FOR SALE in our local area?
If a house is more than 5-8 years old there are probably elements that need updating and sometimes they need updating even in newer homes. For many years contractors, in this area, have built homes using off the shelf contractor-grade materials and those items say to potential buyers "bottom of the line" or cheap, because the contractor purchased them in bulk. Lighting fixtures are a prime example, followed by plumbing fixtures and cabinetry. Give us a call and we can help you determine what to change and what to keep to get the best bang for your buck when it's time to sell.
